Prior to the official launching of the state-funded initiatives that Governor Nyesom Wike has overseen, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the incoming president, has arrived in Port Harcourt, the state capital of Rivers.
On Wednesday morning, Tinubu was welcomed by the Governor and his entourage at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
KAFTAN TV reported that the President-elect’s jet arrived at the airport on Wednesday at 10:03am.
Members of the National and State Assemblies, heads of local governments, and government appointees made up Wike’s retinue.
The airport was also filled with the governor’s supporters, who were permitted entry into the tarmac area under intense security supervision.
The state government is expected to host the President-elect later in the evening at the state banquet.
Recall that Wike had, in a state broadcast on Tuesday, declared Wednesday as a public holiday, urging residents of the state to come out en masse to welcome Tinubu.
