President-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has received a congratulatory letter from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following his election victory in Nigeria. The Ukrainian leader praised the peaceful conduct of Nigeria’s general elections and expressed his desire to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
In the letter, President Zelenskyy invited President-elect Tinubu to visit Ukraine on a state visit soon after his inauguration on May 29, 2023. He emphasized the importance of joint efforts of the international community in solving urgent challenges such as the crisis situation caused by Russia regarding the guarantee of world food security.
President Zelenskyy also acknowledged Nigeria’s support of the Resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization “Principles of the UN Charter underlying a comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in Ukraine” and counted on Nigeria’s active participation in its practical implementation.
The Ukrainian leader sees the further provision of global food security as an important direction of cooperation, and he believes that the successful implementation of the Ukrainian initiative “Grain from Ukraine” will significantly increase the supply of grain to African countries in order to prevent famine.
President-elect Tinubu’s visit to Ukraine is expected to strengthen the dialogue between the two countries and contribute to the further consolidation of joint efforts of the international community aimed at solving urgent challenges.
