Kano State, Nigeria – The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced the arrest of 352 suspects and the seizure of 2.1 tonnes of illicit drugs in Kano State. According to Mr Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, the NDLEA Commander in Kano State, the arrests and seizures were made between January and March.
The seized drugs included 955.304 kg of cannabis sativa and 1,225.05 kg of Codeine and Tramadol, as well as 25 grams of cocaine, 17 grams of heroine, and 52 grams of methamphetamine.
The suspects arrested consisted of 208 males and 44 females. Mr Idris-Ahmad stated that the main challenge before the NDLEA in the state was convincing communities to expose drug peddlers operating in their midst.
He added that the agency needs the public to provide timely and useful information to eradicate drug trafficking and safeguard society.
