Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP), has declared that he “must be” in charge of Nigeria.
This was said by Mr. Obi on Friday in Awka, the capital of Anambra State, at the launch of the book “Peter Obi: Many Voices, One Perspective,” according to a story in the KAFTAN TV.
Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and an All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, was proclaimed the victor of the presidential election on March 1 by Mahmood Yakubu, the head of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
In order to defeat his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, who received a total of 6,984,520 votes, the APC candidate received 8,794,726 votes. Mr. Obi, the LP candidate, received 6,101,533 votes overall and finished third.
Atiku and Mr. Obi are, however, currently contesting Mr. Tinubu’s victory before the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal in Abuja.
“Anyone who thinks I’m on the bus is wasting his time,” I said. I must be the president of this nation, let me tell you that. I’m certain about it. If not now, it will definitely happen tomorrow.
“Those who are interested in becoming should come and explain to us what they want to do and how to go about it. I do not hold dual citizenship; this is my nation. Someone is lying if they think I’m going to flee Nigeria, said Mr. Obi, a former governor of Anambra State.
The LP candidate emphasized that he was not rushing to realize his goal of becoming the president of the nation.
“Today, I have three appointments in Lagos and Anambra. We won’t depart from Nigeria. Although I am not in a rush, he said, “I know it must happen.
“I was in Anambra’s court for three years trying to restore my governorship, merely to fight the procedure. Many people attempted to discourage me, but I responded by saying that I would still be satisfied even if the entire four-year term was used to make a point and improve the system,” Mr. Obi continued.
The former governor claimed he was more interested in the selection process for leaders than in the actual person holding the position.
He added that he was dedicated to the challenge of making Nigeria better.
