The Delta State Police Command has arrested a police inspector, Obi Abri, for allegedly killing a businessman, Onyeka Ibe, at a checkpoint in Asaba.
DSP Edafe Bright, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest in a series of tweets on Wednesday.
Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, had earlier ordered an investigation into the incident and appealed to residents to allow the police to conduct an in-depth probe.
The deceased and his wife were allegedly stopped at the checkpoint and demanded N100, but Abri demanded another payment, which led to an argument that resulted in the shooting.
