Ben Roland Igbakpa, a representative for Delta State’s Ethiopian federal constituency in the House of Representatives, has rejoined the PDP.
His name showing up on the roster of the state’s transition committee last week, which he eagerly welcomed, was an indication that he had rejoined the PDP.
When asked about the fact that he has rejoined the PDP, he responded that although he won the primary election, he lost to dollars and naira, forcing him to defect to the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in order to run.
Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the daughter of Chief James Ibori, was his opponent; nonetheless, he fell short of her in both the primary rematch and the general election.
The two candidates received 34 votes apiece in the party primary, which resulted in a tie. Igbakpa thanked God for the elections in his Facebook post responding to the outcome.
Ultimately, Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu was elected to represent the state’s Ethiope federal district.
She received 10,634 votes, defeating Hon. Halims Agoda of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who received 6,899 votes, and Igbakpa, the incumbent member of the House of Representatives representing the constituency on the NNPP platform.
Ibori-Suenu, a PDP candidate, took first place in the race, followed by Agoda and the current legislator in that order.
