On Friday, Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State will begin the construction of the new Ekiti Ring Road Phase I at Iworoko Ekiti.
Recently, after State Executive Council approval for the variation of rates on the construction, work can commence immediately. The inauguration ceremony will include members of the State House of Assembly, State Executive Council members, Traditional Rulers, Government MDAs, Religious Leaders, Opinion Leaders, Iyalajes, Iyalojas, and stakeholders in the public transportation sectors.
The road will start from Iworoko Ekiti through Are, Afao, Araromi Obo, Ekiti Cargo Airport and terminates at Aso Ayegunle, Ijan road. It was first awarded in November 2020 but was further stalled by COVID-19 outbreak. However, this road is deemed top priority by the State Government and it would serve the cargo airport and the Ekiti Knowledge Zone. It would also considerably decongest traffic in Ado metropolis and produce socio-economic benefits for residents.
The Commissioner of works describes the event as a commitment by the Governor’s administration to the development of the state, to attract investors and make the environment a better place.
