The SDP Presidential Candidate for the 2023 elections, Prince Adewole Adebayo, honoured the invitation to attend the First Session of the Twelfth Synod of the Anglican Church Abuja Diocese, held at the Anglican Church Maitama, Abuja on Saturday, 20th May, 2023 by 10am Presided over by The Most Revd. Henry C. Ndukuba, MA, BD, MA (Ed), DD, the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria Diocesan Bishop of Abuja.
In his speech at the Synod, Prince Adewole Adebayo highlighted the need for Christians to remain true to their faith in all aspects of life, including politics. He emphasised the importance of contesting elections as a Christian and ensuring that the consequences of our actions as political officeholders positively impact the nation.He also called on believers to pray for those in political offices, including those who contested against them, and comfort the Church that it did its best in the election process. He stressed that God has a mission for the country and the Church, and they have a vital role to play in transforming society positively.
The SDP Presidential Candidate expressed gratitude to the Church for the invitation and urged the members to remain steadfast in their faith and continue to pray for the growth and development of the nation.
The First Session of the Twelfth Synod of the Anglican Church Abuja Diocese was a spiritually enlightening gathering of believers who embraced the theme “Synodality: The Transforming Journey with Jesus Christ Luke 24:13-16” as they sought to understand and practise synodality to achieve the common goals of the Church.
In the address’s preamble, the Bishop expressed gratitude to God for keeping the Church and individuals from harm and danger in the face of challenges such as the election uncertainties and banditry atrocities. He also emphasized the need for believers to pray for those in political offices to fulfill their duties with the fear of God and for the country’s progress.
